4 TIPS TO TAKE THE STRESS OUT OF TRAVELING TO YOUR NEXT ASSIGNMENT
When preparing for a new travel assignment, one of the most stressful aspects is actually packing and traveling to the assignment itself. So, with this in mind, we’re going to spend the next blog in our stress-related series on ways to take the stress out of travel for your next travel nursing assignment.
Incorporate these tips into your next travel itinerary and you’ll arrive prepared and stress free in your new destination.
* Charge before you go. Your tablet or smartphone is your constant travel companion, and your trip will go more smoothly if your companion is charged before you go. Be sure to charge your phone or device before you leave your home for the airport — open chargers are surprisingly hard to find there — and you’ll be entertained throughout the flight.
* Pack an emergency bag. Your suitcase will carry the majority of your items, but you should fill your carry-on with anything you’d need to survive for a day or two. Pack a few changes of clothes, your toiletries bag, phone charger and your credit cards into your carry-on and you can rest easy that you’ll be OK if your luggage doesn’t arrive with you.
* Get there early. This one should be common sense but it’s amazing how many people fail to arrive early enough on the day they fly out. Airport security lines are impossible to predict, and you should never make the mistake of thinking your last trip’s cruise through the lines will be the norm. Two hours before you take off is a good rule of thumb. Bring a book and enjoy a little stress-free quiet time before you go.
* Get your questions answered. If you have any questions about your assignment, contact your staffing firm and have those queries answered before you leave. Your staffing firm’s job is to make sure your assignment is a successful one, and the more you know about it before you go, the better chance you'll make this assignment not only stress free but simply great.
