Let's be honest: The travel is what makes travel nursing awesome. You can pick where you work based on where you want to go. Say, for example, you’re a nature buff and when you’re not on shift, you want to be anywhere that doesn't have walls. Sound familiar? Then this list is right up your alley. Here are our thoughts on the best places to travel for an outdoor adventure.
* Yosemite National Park. We’ve been talking about California a lot lately and here we go again. What do you expect? There are a ton of great reasons to travel to the Golden State, including Yosemite. Seasoned outdoor enthusiasts may be raring to camp, hike or backpack, but if you’re new to the wilderness game, don’t be afraid to start slow with a bike ride or guided tour.
* The Smoky Mountains. Accepting a travel assignment in Tennessee or North Carolina could give you the opportunity to explore this historic mountain range. In addition to hiking and camping, the Smoky Mountains are a great spot for wildlife viewing. You may even see deer, elk or black bear. And if you want to take it all in, the view from Clingmans Dome can’t be beat.
* Crater Lake. There are some that swear Oregon’s Crater Lake National Park is the most beautiful place on earth. Is it? That’s up to you to decide. Whether you drive the park yourself or take a guided trolley tour, there’s plenty to see and love about the park and the nation’s deepest lake inside.
* The Apostle Islands. A cruise in Wisconsin? It’s possible if you’re going to The Apostle Islands. Twenty-one different islands make for a wealth of locations to visit, and with a wide array of sandstone cliffs, beaches, lighthouses and even amazing sea caves, each island holds something new and unique to explore.
