eNLC UPDATE | WHO’S UP FOR 'HOOSIER STATE' ASSIGNMENTS IN SUMMER 2020?

Next month, July 1, 2020 (wait, it's almost July already?!), Indiana will officially be the latest state to become part of the Nurse Licensure Compact! This just after Alabama joining in January of 2020 (click here), and Kansas and Louisiana joining a year ago in July of 2019 (click here).

Under the Nurse Licensure Compact, traveling nurses can practice in other NLC states without having to obtain additional licenses. To be eligible in a multistate license, you must claim primary residence in one of the current compact states. The NLC is relevant to RN & LPN licenses, an APRN must hold an individual license in each state of APRN practice.

For travel nurses from Indiana, you can now apply for multi-state designation! This means your state license will be recognized in all participating compact states which includes 32 other states (List Below). If you’ve always wanted to work in Indiana, and currently reside in a compact state, you can work in Indiana with your current license!

FUN FACTS:

  • The first professional baseball game was played in Fort Wayne on May 4, 1871. Fort Wayne Kekiongas beat Cleveland Forest Cities, 2-0.
  • The state of Indiana was named after the Native Americans. Indiana means "Indian Land."
  • Santa Claus, Indiana, receives hundreds of thousands of letters addressed to the Christmas legend every year—each of which is responded to individually.
